That's a moose in the last picture to the right- I swear!

Sunday I again worked at the Hotel Seward. It was a
little easier, but I have still have so much to learn! The owners and
the staff put on an impromptu Memorial Day BBQ, and the boys made me a
delicious veggie burger! I had to leave quickly after work because
Genni was taking a bunch of us to Cooper Landing. Her boyfriend and his
friends (whom we met Saturday night) offered to take us out on ascenic
river float. They work for a company in Cooper Landing, AK (about 40
miles away from Seward) that offers lodging, fishing, and river
rafting. Ten interns fit into Genni's pickup truck cab! Travis was one
happy guy since he was surrounded by lovely ladies.

We took out 2 rafts and went on a 10 river mile ride that lasted about 2 1/2 hours. Jake "drove" our boat (me, Sarah, Kady,
Jenny, and Morgan) while Alan drove the other (Vanessa, Travis, Kayla,
Cathi, Genni, and Ross). The scenery was incredible. I know I keep
saying this on everything I do here, but it never gets old. The
mountains, the water, and forest were breath-taking and calming. We saw a mother moose nursing 2 calves, lots of harlequin ducks, a beaver, a lone moose, a great horned owl, and a few bald eagles. Jake was an excellent guide and told us a lot
about the land and wildlife. Jenny, Morgan, and I each tried rowing.
It's pretty tough. If I did that for an entire summer, I would be so in
shape!

Luckily, Alan had a truck so the drive back was less
crowded. We didn't get home until 1 but it was so worth it. I can't
wait to go back. I might even try some fishing.
