On March 15, in a park in Spokane, Washington James proposed (and I said yes!). Here is the story:
James and I went to British Columbia skiing for a few days. We flew into and out of Spokane, Washington where our friend picked us up. Because our flight was so early on Tuesday, we arrived in Spokane Monday night and got a hotel room near the airport. James made reservations at a restaurant with an impressive vegetarian menu. After dinner and a bottle of yummy wine, we walked down the street to explore Spokane. Across the street was a carousel in a park. Since it was lit up, I thought we could ride it, but it was closed. Behind the carousel was a river in a park. James wanted to take the footbridge across because there seemed to be a boat landing on the other side, but I said no because I didn't want to get mugged.
We were looking out over the water and he came up behind me and put his arms around my waist. He asked me if I would move to England with him and I said "yes I would move to England with him" (we have talked about this before). He asked me if I would marry him and I said "yes I would marry him" (again, we had talked about this before) He turned me around, looked me in the eye and repeated 'Would I marry him.' I asked him if he was serious (or if it was for real, can't remember which) and he said yes. I started crying. And said yes!
Taking the advice of our cab driver, we woke up my mom and my dad with phone calls in the middle of the night to tell them the good news.
