The weekend after Chicago, I completed the Hawk Island sprint triathlon in Lansing. To see all the results and a link to the photos click here and look for May 31st Hawk Island Tri. It will open as a PDF.

I finished in 1 hour 31 minutes and 14 seconds (1:31:14). My goal was 1:30, so I was pretty happy. I placed 29 out of 36 for my age group and ranked #1 for my transition from bike to run. I didn't train properly for the race (much denial from my end on how fit I was to start) and look forward to my next tri at the end of August.

Here are some photos from James and Seth:

I definitely couldn't have done the tri without my friends and family supporting me. Thank you all so much!

Hello there! Sorry I have been absent for a while. Things have been pretty busy here. I will try to catch up over over the next few days with photos and tales of the latest happenings in Lansing and beyond.

Memorial Day weekend was a lot of fun. The friends that were still in day enoyed a BBQ at Andy's house. Luckily, he lives a few houses down from The Green Door. It's a blues bar that has live bands and a fun dance floor. Star Farm was playing some great 80s tunes. Me and the girls dominated on the dance floor. The boys, even Ralph, tried to keep up but no such luck.

At 7am (or so) the next morning, James and I packed up the Subaru and headed off to The Windy City! We wanted a quick weekend getaway with the opportunity to see more of the city. We went to Chicago last March, but I had mono and it rained the entire time. Booo!

This time, we took an architectural river cruise, went to the History Museum, had dinner at the House of Blues, hit up Navy Pier, toured the Art Institute and saw The Bean. Sunday morning, we had brunch along the river at Flat Waters. I had seen an ad for "Bossa Nova Brunch" where you eat outside along the river and a Bossa Nova band provides some ambience. But the band didn't show until after we ate. They were still setting up as we left. Bummer!

But overall, the weather was great and our hotel was centrally located. We walked much of the city and enjoyed exploring Chicago a little more. Here are some photos:
