Greeting from Michigan! I realize it must be hard to keep track of me. I have been in Lansing for 3 weeks now. My new job is going great so far. My bosses (I have 3 of them) are all great and patient with me. This job is in immunology and calls on skills I learned in undergrad, at MCC, and while working in the virology lab at U of R. I hate being slow at things, but I know with time I will improve. So far, I am learning protein assays, HPLC, and how to pour agar plates. Later this week, I will be learning how to culture cells from a different boss.

This weekend lots of progress was made on unpacking and cleaning up the house. I set up the porch, cleaned the bathroom, mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors, and attempted to mow the lawn. James and I bought an old skool push lawn mower like the one my Grandpa had. It rained a ton last week, which made our lawn grow a bunch. Being the wimp I am, I couldn't push the mower through the tall grass. Hopefully James will have more success than I. He has been gone 2 of the 3 weeks I have been here. First he was at a conference and now he is in the field. For now I feel like I live alone. That will change when he comes back this week!

My big news is that I have registered for a sprint triathlon. The event is May 31st in Lansing at Hawk Island Park. I will have to swim 400m, ride 16K on my bike, and finish with a 5K race. Thanks to the internet, I found an 8 week tri training program. I jumped in at week 4 because I just found out some friends were doing the race. The girls did it last year and said it was a lot of fun. My goal is just to finish. I have no idea how to judge how long it will take me. While in Connecticut, I didn't exercise much. Coming back to Michigan has been difficult as I realize how out of shape I am compared to where I was last year. Hopefully, this tri will help me kick it up a notch.

Below are some photos from Easter weekend in Rochester. Unfortunately, my grandma fell and broke her hip right before I arrived. She was in the hospital recovering from her surgery. My Uncle Bob was in town on his way to Spain. All together there were 4 generations!
