For the Fourth of July, James and I headed down to the land of guns, cowboy boots, and big hats- Texas! It had been over 5 years since I had been to Houston. James was happy to be checking off another state visited. My dad and his girlfriend bought a house in The Woodlands, which is planned suburbia at its best. James and I were happy to be their first guests.
During our visit, we went to the Downtown Aquarium and the Houston Natural Science Museum to see the Terracotta Warrior exhibit. The aquarium was pretty neat, but lacked a lot of educational information on the signage. They also have 4 white tigers who have an indoor exhibit. It was pretty cool to be able to get close up to such amazing beasts! The warrior exhibit was amazing! I guess the story is was makes it really neat.
It was in the upper 90s during our trip, so it was pretty darn hot! Saturday (the 4th) we went to the neighborhood pool and I got a little heat sick. It was not fun. Everyone in Houston seems to stay indoors as much as possible. Frankly, I don't blame them. When the thermometer says 100 degrees F, I know I would run and hide. We had a holiday BBQ with Celeste's family and saw The Woodlands fireworks to cap off the evening.
Sunday morning, we had breakfast were Celeste works. It was delicious! Seriously, if you are ever in Houston, you need to go to this place. Hubbell and Hudson is a neat marketplace with an upscale bistro. I can't say it beats Wegman's, but it is up there.
Every evening during our stay, we ended up exploring The Woodlands Market Street, where there are tons of cool restaurants and bars. I hope you enjoy the photos from our trip!
