Snow Day!

Let me remind you that any time there is the slightest possibility of snow, everyone in Connecticut stocks up on milk and bread and waits at home for the snow to fall. All the traffic lights switch to blinking reds and yellows too. Yesterday morning, there were parking bans in place. All we got was a dusting of snow over the course of the day.

My roommate had to be at work at 8:30 this morning. I was planning on heading to Jazzercise at 8, so I parked last in the driveway. I set my alarm early, just in case it snowed. And it did. A lot.

Those in Upstate might be thinking, that isn't a lot of snow! We get three times as much. Well, it is a lot of snow when all you have to shovel is this:

Maybe I am being cheap by refusing to invest in a better shovel. This one came with the house. I tried to get a shovel donated from some family members over the holidays, but didn't have any luck. We have only had to use it 3 times so far, but it really sucks. Shovel technology has certainly evolved since this kids shovel was produced.

Did I mention Jazzercise was canceled? I knew this before I started shoveling, but I wanted to be sure my roommate could leave the house on time. After I shoveled out my car and half the driveway, got up early on my day off, my roommate (who is from Miami) declares it is unsafe for her to drive into work and goes back to bed. Did she shovel anything? No.

I guess this is God's way of mentally preparing me for my move back to Michigan. I just hope it doesn't snow like this when I drive out there.
