Happy belated Thanksgiving! I hope the turkey and Black Friday deals treated you well. I had a fast and furious weekend with good people and lots of food.

Thanksgiving Day started off when I went to work. Work was closed, so the staff was able to visit other departments and make new friends. I got a slobbery kiss from Coco, a 550 pound sea lion.

After working a half day, I headed over to Narragansett, RI for dinner with Erin and her family. Erin and I met at BU and stayed in touch over the years. I hang out with her mom upon occasion too. It's nice to have friends near by. James flew in just in time for dinner and survived another round of rapid fire questions. After dinner, we headed up to Upstate and stayed in Lake George. Montreal was our final destination. Michigan lacks mountains, and the Adirondacks made up for it. Friday morning, when I am normally at the mall celebrating Black Friday, we drove through Lake George up to Lake Placid. The Olympic Jumping facility allows visitors. I can't imagine being that high up and only have one way to get down.

After driving through Lake Placid, we headed north. We waited at the border for an hour. Rush hour traffic delayed our hotel arrival too. James picked out a super cute hotel, the Bonaparte. It was very cute and located in an older section of town. Unfortunately, it started raining after dinner, so we hung out at the hotel by the fireplace and planned our next day.

Saturday was packed! We started off by visiting the Notre Dame Basilica. We then took the subway over to the outdoor photography exhibit, Arctic: Walking on Thin Ice. The exhibit brought us to the Biosphere. An odd piece of architecture, it is supposed to be a nature center of sorts. However, when we visited, all we saw was a craft/fashion show.

I will finish up the trip later this week. There is much more to tell! But I am exhausted. :(

I believe the Biosphere was used at a World's Fair in the 60's. I think it caught fire and just the frame was left. World Fairs use to be held in major cities and different countries would build pavillions with art and cultures of their country on display. I believe the tall space needle in Seattle along with the futuristic monorail are leftover from the Seattle Worlds Fair.

so there... from texas
