After visiting the Biosphere, we walked around McGill University's campus and visited the bookstore. James and I are such nerds that we spent some quality time in the basement looking at textbooks. At least I didn't buy any. ;) I ended up leaving a Christmas present at the register, so we had to go back later on.
Next was the Museum of Fine Arts for the Andy Warhol exhibit. It. Was. So. Cool. Before seeing the exhibit, I knew very little about Andy Warhol. It showcased all of his influences (opera, Hollywood musicals, celebrities) and his different mediums (illustrations, album covers, film, artwork).
On the way back to the hotel, we stopped for a snack and drinks. A quick nap at the hotel left us refreshed for dinner at Gandhi, a yummy delicious Indian restaurant a block from the hotel. It was my first time for an Indian dinner. The chutney was delicious and so were the main dishes. It wasn't too crowded, but the waiter told us not to order something because it takes to long to prepare. That was a little weird, but otherwise it was great!
A short cab ride later, we found ourselves on St. Laurent- filled with bars, restaurants and clubs. I have no idea what the name of the first bar we went to was. A dj was spinning, the lighting was low, the mojitos were minty, and the crowd was uber-chill. It was a great place to relax for a bit with after dinner drinks in hand. The Lonely Planter guidebook recommended a few other bars nearby, so after a few rounds, James and I moseyed down the street. The Blue Dog was a freshmen hangout with some fun dj's. James and I danced the night away. The crowd was young because one of the dj's for the night was a McGill student. I hadn't been dancing really since moving to CT, so it was great to tear it up on the dancefloor.
The next day we slept in for a little bit and headed to Mont Royal Park. It was a busy Sunday morning. Families, joggers, people with their pooches were everywhere. Trails along the path and through the woods offered many ways to climb the hill. When we finally arrived at the Chalet, the view of Montreal from above was pretty cool.
After hiking back to the car, driving to the US, and through Vermont for our ride home. It snowed a bit, and in combination with heavy holiday traffic, the drive took forever. Luckily we had the Forester. Lots of cars slid off the road unfortunately. We stopped in Burlington, VT for dinner. What a fun town! The Vermont Pub and Brewery was a short walk through a pedestrian shopping center. We almost went to the Ben and Jerry's Factory, but we were on a mission to find a Christmas. Lucky us, we found one on Rt. 7! We packed the tree in the car and continued on our way.
James had been patiently waiting to see the new Bond flick, Quantum of Solace, until we were together. All summer he had been preparing me for this new one. I saw a select few over the summer, with each Bond actor. We stopped in Springsfield, MA to see a 9 o'clock showing. I really like this one, although it was different that the other Bond films I have seen.
We finally rolled into New London at 1 am. Shalini was up to greet us as we put the tree up. The next morning we put the lights and a few ornaments on the tree. I haven't had one since leaving Rochester, so I was pretty pumped. After that we headed to Providence so James could catch his flight. I finished up the tree when I got home.
It was a fun and fabulous weekend, but as always, too short. I was back to work on Tuesday.
