After spending the day at Snowbird, we headed home for Jenny's performance. Because I have poor time management skills and a bad sense of direction, we were late to the show. Just barely though! Jenny did great! After the show, there was an ice cream reception for the performers and their families. We went out for drinks with some of Jenny's friends after the ice cream.

Saturday, James and I got to hang out with Jenny. First we went out to breakfast at a little train car dinner. Then we haded to the Great Salt Lake. We spent some time out on Antelope Island. It is a national park with a herd of wild bison (not buffalo). The Great Salt Lake has a huge population of brine shrimp (think Sea Monkeys). They are the only animals that can live in the lake because of the salinity levels. We also drove around to the island to a farm and walked down to the waters edge.

Jenny had to head to her final performance, but before she went we stopped at a new ice cream shop called Spoon Me. Not only was the ice cream delicious, but the whole idea of the shop is to be eco-friendly. Everything was biodegradable, locally purchased, natural, you get the idea. You can even eat the spoons! Jenny, James and I tried eating the spoons. James did the best and said it tasted like plastic. Yuck.

After we dropped Jenny off, James and I went exploring around SLC. We made a pilgrimage to the Mormon Temple and walked around the square. We also walked through one of the visitor centers. We tried to eat at the Red Iguana, but the wait was too long. instead we headed over to a wood fire pizza place. The wait was over an hour. To pass the time, we had a drink and an appetizer at the Red Rock Brewery next door. Both places had great food and drinks.

We again met up with Jenny, but this time we headed to a party for her friend that was turning 21. Yes. We went to a kegger for a new 21 year old. James had never seen keg stands before. It was BYOC (bring your own cup) to be more eco-friendly they said. So I sipped my Fosters beer out of a little Christmas mug. We spent some time talking to Jenny's roommate's German boyfriend. He also had never seen a keg stand. I pointed this out to the birthday boy, and the German ended up doing one. I felt bad, but slightly amused.

James and I left the party a little early since we had super early flights. After delays and waiting for the bus, we finally made it back to Lansing. It was a very busy, but super fun trip. Utah is breath-taking. I wish I had more time to explore the city and hike in the mountains. I guess I will have to go back!
