Barnaby is famous! Steve's dog, Barnaby, is going to be featured as Mr. July in a benefit calendar for the humane society where Steve adopted him from. Lollypop Farm had an exhibit this fall entitled "Portraits of Love" in which Barnaby had a few pictures, from what I was told. Now he made the calendar that was inspired by this exhibit.

Here is the info:
2008 Portraits of Love Calendar

For a daily reminder of the joy the animals from Lollypop Farm are spreading in the community, put this on your desk! The Lollypop Farm 2008 Portraits of Love desk calendar features photographs from the Portraits of Love exhibit and inscriptions on what the animals mean to their owners. This CD-case sized desk calendar features 14 pages that come tucked in a neat little plastic case which doubles as a calendar stand.

Click on the Lollypop Farm link above, and the info is in the right hand column. I already ordered mine!

Available for delivery in November in a limited quantity, these calendars make great gifts for family and friends. Each calendar is just $10 (shipping/handling extra; or pick up from Lollypop Farm for free). All proceeds benefit the animals of Lollypop Farm.

HOLY CRAP! THE RED SOX ARE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES. WOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!
AP Press

Ok I had to get that out of my system. Although I am not the type of fan that watches every game and knows all the stats, I am a Red Sox fan. Going to school in Boston, and living within ear shot of Fenway made me a fan. And this was before the Sox won the World Series in 2004, so I don't consider myself bandwagon either. Here in Michigan, a handful of my friends have the Red Sox as a common thread. The sad part for me is that I can't watch the games. This semi-final went to game 7 because I watched the first few games. What happened when I watched? The Red Sox lost. So now I have been reduced to get text message updates from friends and carefully flipping channels to see a pitch or two. Now I am torn. Do I try to watch the World Series and hope I am being superstitious? Or do I show self restraint and let the Sox win? Helping in my decision will be my exam, paper, and committee meeting that are all occuring within the next week. They should keep me pretty busy.

Tonight I am hearing EO Wilson speak on campus. He is a pretty famous guy from Harvard who used to work on insects. I think he is talking about conservation and global issues tonight. It should be really interesting. Most of my friends are going. I got pretty good seats, so I hope I don't fall asleep!

This weekend was pretty fun! Friday night I went dancing with some friends at 2 bars. The first stop was An Irish Pub (that is really its name). 5 firemen have a kick butt cover band that Katy and I grooved to. Later in the evening we headed over to 621 for some salsa dancing. I stayed out way past by bedtime and I am stillpaying for it today.

My mom came to town too. I showed her around campus and she saw my apartment (it was mostly clean). We went out to eat, did some shopping, and saw a movie. I highly recommend "Michael Clayton" with George Clooney. It could be a rental, but it was excellent.

I know I promised broomball pix, but in the excitement of the Red Sox game being close, I forgot my camera. The boys on my team said I did well defending. I must have been paying attention to all the hockey games I have gone to! It is so much fun. I wish the games last longer than 24 minutes. :(

One last update. I am going to start volunteering at the local humane society. As you know, I really want a dog, but don't have time. The volunteer program doesn't require a set schedule, so I can go whenever I have time. I am hoping to become more involved with temperment evaluationa and dog training. Right now I am busy, but I hope to squeeze it in over the next few months.
