One of my undergraduate students from work sent me this link of a video portraying the dolphin hunt in Japan, narrated by Joaquin Phoenix. There is a petition to sign if you view the video and feel strongly about what you have seen.

Japan is only one of a few countries in the world to still hunt dolphins and whales. I saw a video once of orcas being harvested, and aside from the breaking of an elephant, it was once of the worst things to witness.

I am on a big animal welfare kick since starting at MSU. Animal welfare is different than animal rights. It is based on science and ethics, and finding an appropriate balance between the two. Feel free to email or call me if you want to talk about it some more.
